GAS SUPPLY AND LEAKAGE INSPECTION Gas supply must be correctly sized, see AG 601 for information. After connecting gas supply, check for leakage at connection with soapy water, do not use a naked flame. Secure to floor, see separate instruction sheet with unhosed units. TESTING PROCEDURE Before operating the heater, make sure the supply has been purged, and remove any swarf or foreign materials. Do not turn the unit off by unplugging it from the wall, or whilst the fan is cooling the unit off. This unit is not suitable for use with a plug in type timer, ---..-....... -- Do not unplug during operation. Check Burner Pressure: Check data plate for pressures before making any adjustments. Take special care when setting pressures on Propane. Turn contol to the 'off' position. Remove front panel, two screws in uppermost bottom louvre. Remove test point screw (on regulator), and attach pressure gauge. Check pressure with unit turned on at the highest thermostat setting. Reset pressure by adjusting regulator screw if necessary. Check supply pressure before making adjustments, as regulator has been factory pre-set. (This unit also has an appliance regulator on Propane). Turn unit off, replace the test point screw after testing. When you are satisfied that the heater is working correctly, reassemble it. If you cannot get the heater to work properly, please contact Rínnai, or your supplier for advice. .. INSTRUCT CUSTOMER IN USE AND CARE OF THE HEATER Make sure the customer understands the instructions . . -. —5— --6-- O TEMPERATURE CONTROL CUSTOMERS OPERATINO INFORMATION IGNITION The thermostat automatically modu lates the burner and the fan between their 3 settings to maintain the room temperature which you have selected. MID LO DITI CITHI Plug the heater into both the gas and the power points. Room must be ventilated when using this heater. PUSH ON To change the room temperature, simply adjust the temperature control knob to the desired setting. Depress the ignition button slowly and firmly. The button will return to the 'on' position when you release it and the heater will ignite. TA The heater will run on high for I to 2 minutes after ignition no matter where the temperature control is-set. The temperature range from LO to HI is about 12°C to 36°C. Temperature control may be affected by the position ing of the heater. When you release the ignition button the “Operation' and 'Temperature Level' lamps will illuminate, the spark will ignite the main burner and the convection fan will begin to run. If the unit does not ignite in 15 seconds the spark will stop and the alarm will sound. Turn off and repeat ignition operation, (See page 8). ROOM TEMPERATURE DISPLAY Operation Lamp Temperature Level Temperature Level Temperature is indicated by the L.E.D. display on the control panel. An in crease in temperature is indicated by an increasing number of lights on the display. You will be able to hear the solenoids operating as the temperature control modulates the burner. HI 1 I ------9 ! 1 --- + TTT TO TURN UNIT OFF PUSH OFF This heater has an automatic ignition system, when the main burner has lit, the combustion indicator will glow, and the spark will stop. There may be a smell of burning dust the first time the heater is lit or when the heater has ber out of operation for a long time, thii is normal. You may need to repeat the ignition operation the first time the heater is plugged in, due to air in the hose. Depress ignition button again The switch will return to the 'off' position. Disconnect hose after use. Do not turn off by unplugging at the power point. Convection fan continues to run until heater is cool. The convection fan may start again after a few minutes to remove residual heat. Combustion Indicator - O . 0 SAFETY DEVICES Economy Mode Lamp Over Heat Switch When the heater gets too hot during operation (for example when the filters or air outlet louvres are blocked) this device turns the gas off automatically. Remove cause of overheat (clean filters) allow heater to cool, then re-ignite. ECONOMY SWITCH To change to “Economy Mode”, push the “Economy' switch, the green lamp will glow. 30 mins after the room temperature reaches the preset temperature (set with the thermostat), the Economy Mode, if set, reduces the temperature by 1°C, after another 30 min it reduces the temperature by a further 1°C, this is an energy saving feature. When the heater is running only on low, the “Economy Mode' does not operate. It does not operate if the unit is under capacity for the room size. Economy Switch Fuse The electrical circuits are protected by a fuse. When the fuse blows, the heater will not operate at all. The fuse must be replaced by an authorised person. . 19 reduction . - Preset Temperature 1° reduction --— Flame Failure Device This device automatically cuts the gas supply to the heater in the event of a gas failure. To restore the gas supply to the heater, turn it off, then follow the ignition procedure. 30 min 30 min Oxygen Depletion Safety Device If the oxygen level in the room drops below a pre-set limit, this device cuts the gas supply to the heater and the alarm sounds. If the oxygen depletion device operates, turn the heater off, ventilate the room, then follow the ignition procedure to relight. Heater will not relight until room is fully ventilated. FILTER LAMP If filter lamp glows during operation check both air filters for dust. If there is dust present, clean filters. See section on care of unit. Turn heater off before cleaning filters. FILTER Tilt Switch If the heater is knocked over, the tilt switch will cut the gas supply, The fan keeps running. To restore the gas supply, stand the heater up and follow the ignition procedure. The tilt switch may also operate if the heater is jolted or picked up whilst in operation. Check Both Filters The filter lamp is not a safety cut off, so the heater will continue to run with the light on. Left in this condition the heater may overheat and shut off automatically. TID Alarm When the heater is shut off automatically by one of the inbuilt safety devices. the alarm will sound. To stop the alarm, turn the ignition button off. See fault finding chart, P 13.
