The Apple iPod (Fifth Generation - Enhanced) is a modest revision to the previously released iPod (Fifth Generation). It uses a 30 GB or 80 GB 4200 RPM ATA-66 hard drive, capable of supporting 'up to' 7,500 songs or 'up to' 20,000 songs in '128-Kbps AAC format' or 'up to 40 hours' of video or 'up to 100 hours' of video, respectively. Either model can hold 'up to' 25,000 photos.
Both capacities use a case with either a white or black front and a chromed stainless steel back and have a '2.5-inch (diagonal) color LCD [display] with LED backlight' reported to be 'up to 60% brighter' than the display in the previous iPod Fifth Generation models. Other software enhancements include a search function and additional iconography. All Fifth Generation iPods, original and 'enhanced', are capable of playing a variety of games -- including Tetris and Pac Man -- available through iTunes. The battery life of the Fifth Generation 'Enhanced' models was improved as well for slideshows and video playback, but remained the same for music playback.
